A couple of months ago, my 03 4Runner all of a sudden started making a high-pitched sound and the ABS light turned on. I assumed the brake mdule had gone bad so I finally replaced it and the sound is still there (and my wallet is lighter to the tune of $800). Any ideas as to what else it could be?

You mean 4 low? I know of no low range in the 4th gen.

It is my understanding that outside of the badging, the main upgrades for the Trail edition package was Bilstein shocks and a rear locker. Wasn't the rear locker option in the Limited the same? Functionally, the two vehicles are the same?

Good call. I will check it, although my grill is already broken. The main thing I notice is if I hold pressure on the dash, it stops rattling. Maybe this will help. Thanks!

Maybe because my other car is a Lexus, the rattles in my '03 drive me a little crazy. Particularly the dash. Has anyone found ways to reduce rattles in the 4th gen?

Would these off a big performance upgrade over stock on a sports edition?

Well, I don’t know what happened but the knock is gone and VSC Trac and VSC off come on when I put it in gear. I feel like I’m chasing my tail.

I checked the oil level right after heard the knocking. It seems to be full.

Dealer changed the oil. Yes, I did check the level. The only thing new is they put in synthetic and I don’t know if it had synthetic before.
