4th Gen Brake Upgrade Glock_19 by Ducmonsta

4.5 yrs. sitting outside doesn’t help longevity. Factory set lasted a good long time. But that has been about average for replacements

Same here. Not a slide pin issue. Piston issues.

4th Gen Brake Upgrade Glock_19 by Ducmonsta

Update on install Just an update on longevity. My right front Centric reman lasted 4.5 years and 35K miles before seizing. I expected a bit longer life. Although can't really say it's better or not without using new calipers. Driver's side was fine. Akebono pads were in great shape on the...

    5th Gen 4Runner Brakes Upgrade (for 4th Gen 4Runner)

OK, so an update after 2.5 years and ~21,000 miles: This is still the best upgrade I've done to my 4R. The braking performance is SIGNIFICANTLY better than stock (2003 Limited 2WD). The truck sits outside 24/7 and I live in an area that gets lots of salt in the winter. They still perform...

Rear window rubber seal pulling away

I noticed snow blowing out around the back window while scraping it the other day. Realized that the seal was gone. Ordered that weather strip and a new rear wiper arm assembly as it had also deteriorated from age. Took about 30 minutes to replace it all and that was with two young kids...

    5th Gen Calipers

As an update: I've got about 1,500 miles on the upgrade now, and it just keeps getting better. Pedal feel is very strong now. No issues at all. Very happy to have done the upgrade.

is the Lexus GX470 as reliable as the 4th Gen 4Runner?

I've got an '03 4R Ltd 2WD and an '04 GX470. Under the skin, they are basically the same vehicle. Comfort wise the GX is a cut above. It is taller with more headroom and better amenities. Those things make it more livable, but long term a little bit less reliable. Of note; the height...

    2017 4runner (no 6th gen)

I'm the same way with matte black wheels...meant you couldn't afford hub caps or 'mag' wheels when I started driving...now they're an extra $2K LOL.

See my post 576 for pics and part numbers; yes they fit perfectly for 17" wheels on 4th gen.

    5th Gen Calipers

No, I didn't as it is mostly a 'work truck'. They are starting to rust, but the old ones were brown too...

    5th Gen Calipers

5th Gen all around I have installed the 5th Gen upgrade on all 4 corners of my 2003 4R Ltd (calipers and rotors), since both front calipers were seized (again/ 4th time in 150,000 miles). I chose to buy new Gen 5 dust guards for a clean fit. I also went with the "StopTech Sport; Slotted; Heavy...
