Thank you! I would like to thank the OP in advance as well. Last week I received one of these insurance OBD dongles that monitor your driving in order to offer you a discount. As soon as I installed it and started the car, the lights came on. Not the engine light though, just like the OP...

This is an easy check/fix (if this is the actual issue). Try to "burp" the cooling system by opening the radiator cup (while the engine is cold), filling up the radiator to the top and letting the engine run for 10-15 minutes (enough to warm up and the thermostat to kick open for a few cycles)...

It's $70 per side, $140 total. It's not cheap for what it is... You would pay at least another $100 for installation at any dealer. Good luck to the OP. I would go to a junk yard and try to find these trim pieces. In some places you show up with your own tools, take out the stuff from the cars...

Is there a major disadvantage/negative/objection/mistake of doing a simple drain and refill, then drive for a a few hundred miles and repeat the drain and refill 2-3 times so that you "dilute" the old fluid with new?

To be legal in TX, maybe in California too, you would have to install seat belts on the 3rd row seats.

If you can't find a good dash for replacement I would suggest the coverlay solution. Good luck

I needed to be burped! I drove by the dealer and picked up a bottle of Toyota coolant to avoid mixing different types/colors and potentially creating sludge. Thanks again everybody!

Got the V8 sparkplugs for my V6. Open box, and only 6 of them but hey they are free... If you are in Houston I can hand them over otherwise they are to be thrown away :(

Thanks, I'll start with the simplest/cheapest option and try to burp the system before start replacing stuff. Thermostat might be the first to be replaced.

The thermostat doesn't turn on and off randomly, I think. The issue is only during low speed of stuck in traffic. At high speeds temp is steady. West Houston/Katy here!

I am not sure but the coolant, at least in the expansion tank looks new. She takes the car to the dealer since before we met and I assume they flush the coolant as necessary (or even more often than necessary). I'll check the coolant in the radiator. Assuming the coolant was flushed recently...
