Is the 5th gen falling out of favor?

You have no idea what I do for a living or how familiar I am with "technology" son and certainly don't appreciate your patronizing attitude. At 60 years old I have owned many vehicles and believe I know what I want and need. You drive what you want and I will do the same.

Is the 5th gen falling out of favor?

Good for you. I have felt the same way for most of the 15 years I have owned mine. I have the V8 with over 7,000 towing capacity and would like to see the 4Runner again offer a V8 option that offers more than the same 5,000 lb towing capacity as the Highlander - along with a frame mounted hitch...

Is the 5th gen falling out of favor?

Dated As a fifteen year owner of a 4th generation (V8) 4Runner, I concur. I love this vehicle but I'll be damned if I am going to pay $38 - 48K for a ten year old platform (albeit very reliable) with an under-powered engine, archaic five speed transmission, and completely devoid of the modern...

Help! on FJ Coil/Bilsten 5100 Install

Hmmm. Problem solved. All required parts (seats, etc) were packaged with the shocks but the installer threw out the boxes without checking. They stayed late past closing and completed the install. I will be curious re. the end results. Thanks!

Help! on FJ Coil/Bilsten 5100 Install

A long-time member here. After reading this entire thread I thought I had a handle on the installation. I have a 2004 V8 Limited 4Runner with a "shot" X-REAS system. Was looking to do the FJ coil/Bilstein 5100 shock replacement. I recently purchased the FJ coils (2007 -2009 model year)...

    Michelin Cross Terrains in winter?

Cross Terrains - wet grip Since you asked.......... I am probably in the minority vs. other CT owners on this forum when it comes to this topic. I have a 2004 V8 Limited with 97K miles. I am also a Michelin fan, having owned many sets on several vehicles over the years. As a brand, I have...

Time for the V8 to rise from the ashes

I concur. While I would still prefer a V8, the multi-mode system is first on my wish list for the 5th gen. The rear locker option with the multi-mode (as offered in the 2009 Trail) would be a great combination. Would also like to see the other small items returned - like the diversity antenna...

    Recommend a Portable Air Compressor

Best Value Many of us purchased this (or a very similar) unit a few years back when they hit the shore. Aside from a unique connector, these are solid compressors for the money. I have used mine regularly for the past four years. Unlike some of the '"toy" compressors that will take 10 - 20...

    ***Camping in 4runner

Window Screens As mentioned in several posts over the past few years, we do a fair amount of camping in our 4Runner. Even more so than in a tent, ventilation is critical. A few years ago I bought "Screenz" window screens for the front windows (only offering) and a couple of years back...

What is the most capable offroad 4WD you can walk into

SUV vs. Truck Another vote for the Jeep Wrangler in Rubicon trim. For the truck category, don't discount the Dodge Power Wagon.

Fallen prey to a frozen caliper! AARRG!

Ditto Coincidental thread timing. Just had one replaced (my first) this past Friday, at 93K miles.

If there were no more brands than American?

Ford Brazil Interesting video about a Ford plant in Brazil. This type of facility will probably never be built in the US; pay attention to the last comment in the narration. DETNEWS | WebVideo | Ford's most advanced assembly plant operates in rural Brazil
