Radiator leaking, replace plus or minus transmission cooler

I found an OEM radiator from my local dealer for a reasonable price it seems, but I just need to make sure its correct. I imagine aftermarket hoses for the radiator will be okay - I cant bring myself to spend extra on OEM rubber hoses.

Radiator leaking, replace plus or minus transmission cooler

Hey all - My radiator has been leaking a bit since I changed my water pump. It is old and not factory. Its overdue to be changed at this point either way. I plan to swap the thermostat, upper and lower hoses, and get the proper clamps for the hoses. Would you all recommend I bite the bullet...

Timing belt job - extra 12mm bolt

As far as I can the bolt seems to be a bolt that holds the oil pump assembly to the motor but doesn't seal the oil or anything like that. I think it will be okay. New problem this am - drove and had some leaking. Parked and popped the hood and coolant had gotten in the fan and sprayed on the...

Timing belt job - extra 12mm bolt

To access that bolt I would be redoing the whole job at this point anyway. It's deep in there and the timing belt would potentially have to come off as well to access it.

Timing belt job - extra 12mm bolt

Doing some more research - seems like I removed a bolt for the oil pump. I guess if I start leaking oil there I will know why. I hope it is well sealed and the (presumed) missing bolt will not be missed. Any advice / opinions from the more experienced folks welcome

Timing belt job - extra 12mm bolt

Hey all - I went ahead and finished the timing belt job today with your help. Thanks all for you advice. I'm kicking myself big time and wanted to see if anyone had advice regarding an odd situation I found myself in. I removed the bolts for the water pump and put them aside. When I went to...

    Coolant leak - Source identification

I went ahead and got the air cabin man kit and a spare old style crank bolt from octoyotaparts (hope they are legit). I'm going to gather the tools slowly and try and knock it out in a day, but I will have an extra couple days that I won't need to drive if needed. Timmy thanks for the videos -...

Water Pump / Timing belt Job

Hello all, Sadly my water pump is leaking big time and I need to do the timing belt and water pump job I have been putting off for some time now. I have 186k on my 1997 4Runner and I am unsure if this job has ever been done. I am researching how to do the job myself. I wouldn't mind paying...

    Coolant leak - Source identification

Took it to the mechanic today - they said they would take look for me. Took the car and pressure tested it and charged me $60 before I knew they had it on the jacks. Anyways, They said it is the water pump. I figured it was as much but I never was able to confirm even when I pulled the timing...

    Coolant leak - Source identification

I will go ahead and pull the timing belt cover and take a peak. I removed the skid plate but couldn't find the source. I could see coolant had come off the front underneath the thermostat area, but doesn't appear to originate from there. Oddly enough - I drove the car to the gas station -...

    Coolant leak - Source identification

Water pump replacement overdue which I am fearing. I have replaced the thermostat myself four years ago - maybe I need to revisit that. Would I be able to tell the source if I drop the skid plate or does the shroud need to come off ?

    Coolant leak - Source identification

Hey all - noticed a leak about a week ago, now trying to find the source. I think I have a hunch it will be somewhere very inconvenient. I moved cities (Greensboro, NC) and no longer have a mechanic - especially one I would want a big job. If anyone knows a mechanic in the area, that would be...

    Squeaky Wheel after Pothole

I took the wheel off, everything looked alright. I pushed on the dust plate a bit and then put the wheel back on. I also sprayed the outside if the front u joint with some lithium grease for good measure. The noise went away. It was probably just the rotor touching the dust plate for some...
