So the battery light came on the other day so I took it to Walmart and they put a load tester on it and replaced the battery under warranty. Put the 750 CCA battery in since it was free. (too big?) The battery light didn't go off even though according to the Wally World "tech" said it wasn't...

Tall and Skinny I'd like to get the look of an old school safari truck. Not planning to do any serious off roading and don't want to do a lift. How tall (and skinny) a tire can I fit on a Gen3 (97 limited)? I realize it would mess up the speedometer but I'll deal with that to get the height...

This is getting ridiculous. This morning after 10 minutes driving I started to see smoke. Leak is worse than ever. The right valve cover is cracked at the aft/right corner mounting bolt flange. I'm pulling it off now to see if I can get it welded up. If not I put a want ad up in the classifieds...

Like the title says. I need the passenger side valve cover for a '97 4runner 3.4 v6. This is the third time in two weeks I've had it apart trying to fix a leak and it turns out to be a cracked cover. Heck I'd settle for someone in the Dallas area that wouldn't mind a little aluminum welding job...

Got Lucky, The stud snapped and that was all. I didn't have another stud but found a bolt in my spare bolt bin to do the job.. All buttoned up and seem to be leak free so far. :banana:

10 minutes from done when I made a total brain fart. I set the torque wrench too high for the intake bolts and heard a sickening pop as I was tightening one of the lower studs. I quit at that point. I'll take it apart tomorrow and see if it's repairable.

Does anyone have a trick So If I'm understanding this correctly the tube must fit inside the seal... Makes sense to me but I can't seem to work the new seals over the tube. iI there a trick or a technique to doing it?

The battery load tested well and the alt was making 13.5 at idle. The light didn't happen to be on at the time so its may not be a usable test. I can't seem to find any rational for when it/they come on. Its a mystery. I'm afraid to take it on a road trip until I know but it doesn't seem to be...

My BAT light came on followed shortly by the ABS light. I happened to be at the place where I bought the Battery and they tested and replaced the battery under warranty. A hundred miles later the lights came back on. I suppose the ALT must be the issue but why would the ABS light come on as well?
