The North American models with the swing-away tire carrier has the reverse lights mounted in the tailgate.
I have only seen those lights in pictures of Japanese versions. I have visited quite a few Australian 4Runner (Hilux Surf) websites, and they didn't have lights like that.
I've got one on my truck, I love it. I have bounced it off the skidplate many times. it holds up to a beating! You need to pull the lower A-arm bolt to mount it. I have been wanting one for my 4Runner, but Downey is currently backordered on them.
