Head Gaskets & Rebuilt Both Heads Rebuilt my top end. R&R head gaskets, top end gasket set, and had both heads rebuilt. Two and a half days of work, plus a few days of machine work. Runs great now and no more P0300 and coolant loss!

Some solid advice there- much appreciated! The machine shop called and confirmed that the cracked head failed the pressure test (crack went downward towards the valve guide) and into a coolant passage, hence my coolant loss. Makes sense now, especially after removing the old HG and not noticing...

I initially thought that once the head was cracked, it was done, but I guess not. I'm really hoping that they can repair and rebuild the current heads. Their quote for rebuilding both heads was $800, which I'm hoping ends up being the case.

Out of curiousity, for those who've done head gaskets on these, are purchasing the whole oem "top end gasket set," which includes valve seals and what not, or jus the ala cart items such as HG, valve cover gaskets, came seals, etc?

JWaldz Please keep me posted on the outcome of your situation. I've been searching the forum and coming across more of these exact circumstances, and near similar mileage. But ya I agree, replacing a head or two will definitely push it into the replacement engine cost. Nice rig by the way! Thanks!
