    The air-pump is buried under the manifold. It is a costly repair. Parts alone can run in excess of $2,000 and there is no after market options I found(albeit it was a quick desperate search).     2005 4Runner, 4.7L, 4WD. 90k miles. Same symptoms. Cold starts with a rough "whirring" sound then one day the CEL and traction lights light up and the vehicle will barely make it to 30mph.
