Is it possible something knocked the shifter into reverse and caused all that damage? I only ask because I know I've had to do a quick stop before causing my dog to knock the car into reverse.

I finally got to test out the ChassisEARs that I ordered. Man those things are a great tool! I was able to narrow the whine I was hearing down to the transfer case and most likely the rear end of the case. I checked the fluid level and it was about three ounces low but I didn't notice any...

I'm going through the same issue right now. The best thing I can recommend is getting a ChassisEAR to help locate the source of the whine. I took my rig out for a spin today and was able to narrow the source of the whine down to the rear end of the transfer case.

I know when I let off on the gas the whine doesn't change until the car starts slowing down at which point the pitch begins to decrease like its winding down. I'll give your road test a shot tomorrow and see if it confirms this or if I notice anything different.

I have an 03 4wd with 180K that's developed a higher pitch whine sound. I can't really tell where its coming from but I do know that the whine increases with car speed and not RPM. The sound appears at low speeds and increases in pitch and only "goes away" when the engine noise drowns it out...

So was that a yes you know they're 16" alloy rims or yes they will fit 231mm calipers or maybe yes to both? I've got the same rims and I'd like to do the brake mod. I didn't see them listed in the original post so I'm just confirming they're a no go before I throw some dollars down.
