    Help! Stripped Oil Drain Plug

Sorry for the delay, been busy So last I left it the truck was at the dealership. Not sure if I mentioned it but apparently my rotors were rusted over I (didn't realize this was in issue), the pin on my left brake caliper was frozen (Not sure if he was referring to the cotter pin) and a couple...

    T4R Transmission Fluid Servicing (sealed & non-sealed)

Like a noob I posted before doing a search. Turns out that check engine + VSC off + VSC error is a common problem that can be remedied by putting the gas cap on tight or in my case disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds. God I love this forum.

    T4R Transmission Fluid Servicing (sealed & non-sealed)

So I just did a transmission flush and refilled with Amsoil using the method described in the service manual shorting jumpers 4 and 13 and waiting for the A/T Oil Temp light to come on. I waited for a few minutes after the light came on to drain to get closer to standard operating temperature...

Update - My First Experience with the Stealership So.......since my last post I've done the following. I had the truck towed to the stealership, $30 with AAA, no biggie. They called me back and told me that it's going to cost $339 for a full flush (drop pan, look for metal bits, replace...

    Help! Stripped Oil Drain Plug

Oh my god, what have I done I would like to first thank everyone for their help, this is a great forum. Now on to my recently realized disaster. So I go my oil pan tapped, but it was odd I had to drill some of the metal out to get the tap to fit. After that, I installed a new drain plug and...

    Help! Stripped Oil Drain Plug

I'm contemplating option #1 since I got the bolt out. I'm thinking it should be pretty straight forward to retap the oil pan for a larger diameter bolt. Of course I think this because I've never done it before. I first thought about repairing the damaged thread but I looked into getting a...

    Help! Stripped Oil Drain Plug

2007 Sport V8. So I went to three different auto stores looking for a 12 mil thread repair kit to no avail. Pretty frustrating given I had to ride my bicycle. I wanted to use a repair kit because I got a replacement drain plug at the store. I think I may just tap it to fit a larger bolt...

    Help! Stripped Oil Drain Plug

With a vice grip and a little elbow grease I got the drain plug out. Looks like the threads are pretty stripped on the oil pan. Going to try to figure how to get it tapped.

    Help! Stripped Oil Drain Plug

I'm pretty anal about torque specs so I was using my torque wrench after finger tightening the drain plug. It's bee a while since I've used the wrench but it's been stored properly so I'm thinking it wasn't the wrench. I'm going to try to get the drain plug using a screwdriver tomorrow. Maybe...

    Help! Stripped Oil Drain Plug

I went under and checked it out again. The drain bolt basically spins and spinds without tightening or loosening. Also, there is a small gap between the head of the nut and the oil pan and the bolt wiggles. I was reading somewhere that there is a welded nut inside the oil pan that the drain...

    Help! Stripped Oil Drain Plug

I stripped the oil drain plug while changing the oil in my 4Runner. In the process of trying to remove it I made it even worse, now the drain plug will spin and spin but it won't come out nor get tight. So I'm thinking I have three options: 1. Try to pull out the drain plug without using too...

Help, need confirm on part # for cupholder insert

So someone decided to steal my cup holder insert. Since then I've had numerous coffee spills so I decided I'm going to pony up and replace it. I'm pretty sure the part number is 55604-35050 but not entirely certain, can someone confirm it so I don't order the wrong part? Thanks in advance.

    Oil Overfill/Leaking Oil

proz7, I have about 6000 miles since last oil change (mobil 1 synthetic) so I have about 1500 left before changing oil for sure but I need to change gear oil and lube so I figure I'll just take care of everything. I checked the dip stick and the oil level looks like it's between the two lines...
