    Bluetooth audio screen flicker

Hi Everyone: i recently bought a new '17 SR5 (traded in 07 SR5) and I love it. One odd thing, when listening to my iPhone music via bluetooth, i get a lot of screen flicker, like it is refreshing. I did see one post via Google about this possibly being due to low signal strength (on the...

    4R Oil Change

If you want to make the oil change even easier, no kidding, get a fumoto valve. Well worth the $20 or so it costs. Check it out you will become a believer.

    over 231k :)

Well I drove my 3G (98) 231K miles and to date my son has clocked another 12, so it is up to 243, here are the repairs: New starter at about 150 that cost $700, new brakes at 185, that was about $400, an emissions repair that cost a few hundred and my son replaced the exhaust for the first time...

Venting after a horrendous wheel install experience

I would have gotten out of there at my first opportunity and not let them change the oil. The signs were there, I would have booked. If they did such a lame job on the tires, I would have assumed the oil change would have been just as bad. Do the oil change yourself, it is not difficult and...

    Battery change: 2006

My rule is 5 or 6 years to a battery, then I replace it. Probably I am missing out on a few years of use but a dead battery in new model cars especially is a real hassle.

    3G vs 4G 4wd

I had a 98 SR5 and it was a monster in the snow. I ran Cooper Discoverer ATR tires. It did not have a switch to lock the diff, just dropped it in 4wd high and away I went. Now I have an 07, just put new Michelin Lt/2 tires. Drove it in the snow, almost got stuck. I was unimpressed. BUT...I...

    Michelin X-Terrains

I bought the same tires and the tire shop filled them with nitrogen. Not sure if it is the nitrogen or the tires, but they are VERY smooth. Probably a combination of both factors.

    Passenger seat - annoying rattle

Any chance it is the buckle on the seat belt hitting the pillar?

    30,000 Maintenance

I bought a used 07 about 8 months ago and I'll have to admit I was disappointed that the plugs need to be replaced at 30K, especially considering I had 32K on the car when I bought it with original plugs. I guess they need the revenue. But I drove my 98 for 240K and my approach was to do the...

    tire pref (4th gen)

I agree, I have had 3 sets on my 3G and am considering them for my 4g. Cooper also makes a tire called CTS which is well rated by them for the snow but quieter on the highway than the ATR.

Which Tires should I get??? Michelin or Cooper

I have had 3 sets of ATR's on my 99 and they are great, they lasted me about 60 to 70 K miles and are awesome in the snow. I need a set of tires for my 07 and I am considering them although the Michelins have a nice ride and are quiet, but expen$ive. I am also considering the CTS from Cooper...

    New in Connecticut

Welcome to CT!!! I have been here for over 30 years and am proud to call it home. I have driven a 4Runner since 98, that first 3G is now in the hands of my son and it has about 236K miles, he just replaced the exhaust for the first time ever, and the first and only brake job was at 185K. I...

    V6 Oil Change 101

There is also a thread on using a Fumoto valve, I strongly recommend it, makes getting the oil out much easier.

How Is An FM Transmitter Used?

Yes I have one and it works OK. First key is to find 4 frequencies in your area that are not used, you can do that over the internet with a search. That way you can switch among the 4 (assuming your unit offers 4 choices) and find one working that day. Also do not buy an expensive one, I got...

    65 mph vibration a typical 4Runner problem?

Yes I echo what other posters said, I had a 98 for 11 years and balancing the tires was a constant problem. I took my new used 07 into the dealer to see if they could improve the ride. It took 3 trips back but they finally got it right. One of the front tires had a bad belt or something like...
