    Danger Runner

I keep a 4lb mini sledge in my toolbox at work that I engraved "FORD TOOL" on, because like you said, sometimes something needs a little scientific application of brute force. Awesome job on the build. The wife and I picked up an 89 pickup a few months ago that had a ""good 3.0, ran great when...

    SR5 transplant

The cost of labour for the physical work as well as the R&D required for that would be astronomical. Id imagine the tech would want to be paid strait time as opposed to flat rate, which can add up very quick. If you have both vehicles, and the time to strip them both down and transfer harnesses...

88 4Runner Project! (Lots of Questions)

I tried digging through my electronics stash and I don't have any diodes that even remotely line up to those. I have a factory service manual for these generations but of course it doesn't go into printed circuit board repair

Any luck with the resistors? Sorry I've been absent. 3.4 Swapping the wife's 90 pickup so I've been up to my ears in wiring

    Hyde builds some axles.

You're giving me a lot of inspiration! I picked up a 89 pickup as a parts truck for the wife's 90, and now that all that remains are axles and a carcass I am entertaining the idea of making a bush truck to beat up around the woods. I might need to borrow an idea or two from you, thank you !

Making good progress! Where are you sourcing the vinyl floor from?

I like the creativity with "sourcing" the chains from an F550. Badassery at its finest!

88 4Runner Project! (Lots of Questions)

It's actually funny you mention the freeze method. The wrecking yard I was on on the weekend, it was about -15 Celsius (around 5 ish Fahrenheit) and the truck I cut up, literally a whole 20" by 30" section came up with the carpet when I gave it a good tug! I had never seen it come up with such...

88 4Runner Project! (Lots of Questions)

I hit up a wrecking yard yesterday, cut the front quarter section (halfway up the A pillar, down the centre of the dash and down transmission tunnel) with a cordless sawzall out of a 94 4runner; it was all that was there with a decent floor sadly. My wife said it looked as easy as quartering an...

    1989 4Runner 1UZ engine swap

Amazing rig, amazing job, and great writeup ! When I get a little further along in my diesel swap I will have to make a thread, and hope it is half as good as this one! Great job again

88 4Runner Project! (Lots of Questions)

I have a couple rust holes in my drivers floor too, sadly. The pinch weld that joins the floor pan and the outer portion of the A pillar must have got frost heaved and rust heaved and let water in. Really kicking myself for not tearing up the carpets sooner, the floors were the cleanest part of...

    3.0 V6 Lifespan?

I've had mixed experiences with the 3.slow. I had one in an 89 pickup with 439000km, and it would burn rubber into third gear. I was blown away, had never seen a 3.0 like that before, and haven't since. It looked factory for the most part. Had another in a 92 pickup and it made it through...

    1st Gen IFS Front End/Brakes

Hyde, thanks for the link! I'll add it to my personal tech bible. Teleyota, I have heard a lot of horror stories of poly as well, and have had bad results myself. I believe there is great merit to torsiolastic (no idea how to spell it, but a combination of torsion elastic words) bushings. A...
