Great thread! This was exactly my issue. Water and damp carpet on the driver's side, especially when parking with the rear higher than the front.
Unfortunately I had to go a bit crazier with my solution as adding rubber washers didn't solve it.
What has worked for me so far is using this tape...
Watched a video of a 5100 install for a 5th gen and noticed a washer that I don't think mine have (or I didn't install).
Curious if others know if this washer should be there for 4th gen 5100's. I can't find any good picture or anything definitive for just the 4th gens. This is for the front...
Wow thank you. I hadnt seen that but from reading i certainly think I am either missing the first washer all together or didn't install it correctly. I will check. Thanks again.
At my DIY wits end and would love help diagnosing this noise before I take it to a shop.
Video of issue.

The problem: over large bumps (think neighborhood 25 mph speed bumps) going fast 30mph I get this clunk. I don't get it going slower. I don't get it turning or braking. Only under...
Agree! You guys saying 13-15k have no clue how much these low mileage v8's are sought after. I searched 6+ months for mine in the southeast. My requirements were <100k and minimal rust (which is unknown on this one).
Finally settled on an 08 Sport 4wd with 90k miles for 18,500. As long as...
Just wanted to say thanks again to everyone. I hope the suggestions here can help anyone else that this might happen to in the future.
With the confidence of borrowing the air tools I tightened the pulley back on in the exact same manner and was just extra careful removing the severely bent...
Thanks a bunch guys for all the immediate help. Space was limited and I tried some of the suggestions but ultimately borrowed a neighbors air impact and pulled the whole pulley back off. Used a dremel to cut a slit into the bolt and a screwdriver to back it out.
Now I just have to figure out...
Thanks now! Unfortunately the bolt is threaded in so as far as I can tell I can't simply punch it out.
A picture is a great idea. Here's the best I could get.
Hey guys,
So I was finishing up my timing belt job and it came time to tighten the crank bolt. I have a pulley holder but the little nubs that are supposed to fit into the crank holes always slip out under any serious torque. So I got some M8x1.25 bolts to thread into the crank pulley.
I got...
If you're going to spend that much go ahead and get the IR that will last you a lifetime and never let you down, the Ingersoll Rand W7150. I've heard nothing but astounding reviews about it.
Otherwise, I've been decently happy with my $99 Craftsman impact. It definitely leaves something to be...
Just did an install of the 5100 in my 2008 (non-jbl) a few months ago. Not sure how different the two wiring schemes are. I used a combination of wiring diagrams and forum posts to find the three wires.
First is this post...
You revived an old thread, but one way to try and tell the two apart is if the noise goes away once the car is hot. Usually the small cracks in the manifold will seal themselves up as the metal expands. Mine currently tick fairly loudly when I first drive the car, but if I drive somewhere for 10...
