Anything new on flat towing a V8 4Runner?

Yeah I figured you would be good on the frame with it being older. Mine was weak the last 5 feet and I had to brace it. If you plan to stay at rv campgrounds, the trailer isn't the best option. I've stayed at quite a few Campgrounds that only allow the Rv and one vehicle so the trailer would be...

Anything new on flat towing a V8 4Runner?

Power isn't the issue. Most rv's have really weak frames towards the rear because most are extended beyond the original frame. Yours being as old as it is might be built better though. Just make sure it has a full frame all the way back to the hitch with cross bracing. You also want to make...

Anything new on flat towing a V8 4Runner?

What kind of rv you got? Towing on a car hauler will likely put you over the 5klb (or less) weight limit that 95% of the rv's out there have. A side note for option 4 is that if you have a bunch of mods to your 4r you could buy a gx and swap them all over and flat tow that since it has the...

Everyone happy with their body lift?

I never said entire driveline, I said the body. And with all the electronics, seats and airbags, that's quite a bit of weight. Of course a lot of you new school Toyota people put a bunch of crap on their roof like rtt's, rotopaks, spare tires etc. Which I would never do any of that either so...

Everyone happy with their body lift?

Putting the entire weight of the body up 1.5" or even 1" isn't ever so slight. That's a huge change in my opinion. I already know I'll be the lone opinion on this one because Toyotas have terrible clearance issues when you start moving up the tire size and people generally don't like chopping on...

Everyone happy with their body lift?

I said rock crawling but it should be common sense that in every form of offroading, keeping the weight low is the best for performance. Both my bumpers low points are against the frame so a BL would help zero. I'd rather run a 2" smaller tire than a 1" BL, but I know most people just want that...

Everyone happy with their body lift?

Don't be lazy, skip the body lift and trim. I don't understand why people are so afraid to trim. They act like they will return it to stock one day and nobody does that even if they think they will. Body lifts put a lot of weight up higher and in rock crawling the goal is to get weight lower...

3/4" clear hose inside driver rear fender. What is it?

Thank you. Let's hope you're right. I cut it open on accident and wanted to make sure it was nothing real important.

3/4" clear hose inside driver rear fender. What is it?

The hose is approximately 3/4" OD and is a clear silicone hose. Runs down from somewhere (maybe the c pillar?) into the inside of the driver rear wheel well and goes towards the rear of the vehicle. Anyone know what this hose is for? This is on a GX470 but I assume 4runners have them also...

    buyer beware - victory 4x4

But it does affect the light. If the light has 30 leds and 6 of them are blocked by that emblem, than you will only get the output of 24 leds. Should the OP of used common sense and known this? Yeah probably but not everyone has experience with these things. But the fact they told him it...

Internal cage in 4th gen - Why does nobody have one?

Oh I believe it! I've been in quite a few crashes. I use to race and rolled end over end twice followed by 4 barrel rolls. Had a cage and I was wearing a helmet and harnesses. Still had some significant damage to my body but definitely saved my life. But in that case I was traveling very fast...

Internal cage in 4th gen - Why does nobody have one?

I would think for kids in the rear, a cage is absolutely necessary. And there is no risk of smacking their head. I posted this just hoping for a couple guys that had done it and I just missed it. TONS of 1st and 2nd gen guys have internal cages and nobody seems to regret it and I don't see them...

Internal cage in 4th gen - Why does nobody have one?

They make tube padding for a reason. What's the difference between smacking your head on a padded tube or a padded steel A pillar? Pretty rarely do you even see a exo 4th/5th gen. I personally think the reason I don't see many cages is the fact that you can't just buy it and bolt it on. Than...

Internal cage in 4th gen - Why does nobody have one?

That sounds like a one off accident or a very low cage in the vehicle. A gx has pretty good head room and can tuck the cage up pretty high. The fact you're saying that you're safer with no cage while offroading/rock crawling vs having a cage while on the street is pretty  I know plenty...

Internal cage in 4th gen - Why does nobody have one?

35's is plenty to need a cage. Guys with 33's and 35's are usually more inexperienced than the guys with 40's.. Again, usually. But to answer your question 37's, 60 rear, rclt front. I came from 42's but I want a better ride now. And I don't want a exo. Too much weight to strength ratio.
