lol, unfortunately there was already marks on the cams from toyota i believe... or who ever was in the engine last... but I didnt notice them until the second time :gun4: but yeh, super simple engine, ive got a 3sgte that I got in pieces, its all been machined and just needs re-assembly...

ok, so theres a suggested misfire on cylinders 2 and 3.... L and R bank... so I got the new gaskets from toyota :15$ each, replaced em, and it still misfired but not as bad.... so I pull the wire from cylinder 2 while the cars running and it starts to misfire really hard... plugged it back in...

well, I figured out that when I went to put on the new timing belt.... I aligned it with the dot on the back of the gear... which it actually to be verticle and there is a seperate dot on the front of the gear for the timing belt..... and I had reversed the gears prior to noticing this...... so...

yep, the gears are placed in different locations and there different cutouts in the head... so even if you try to put the L in the R spot, the gears wont let it seat correctly
