Sounds like you'll need to tap into the circuit that powers up the lights when you hit unlock, put a one-way diode inline so that you don't back-feed that circuit, then feed it to a relay for your new rock lights. Add a switch that also feeds the same relay and done.

I recently built one as well... I used a couple of self-tapping screws to affix it to the factory slider enough that it won't shift and slide around under hard driving, but it might not be enough to hold it still if I ever roll over.

I added this to my hitch, then took the shackle off to prevent it growing legs and disappearing. IMHO this makes a real nice bumper spear if someone tries to bump me in a parking lot. :)
