    Lockers???

Yes you can drive it in 4wd without the hubs locked, you just won't have actual 4wd since the fronts aren't locked and only the rears will drive

    Flat towing

Yeah my 85 4runner is the same way, front shaft doesn't spin freely in N or 4 when all 4 tires are on the ground, and yes the manual hubs were unlocked. If I were going to flat tow it, it would be in 2wd with rear shaft disconnected unless it was just a couple miles

Might sound like a silly question, but

The 3 blow gets a bad rap and is considered the worst toyota engine ever because of the wonky yamaha heads that are very inefficient and tend to produce heat, not to mention the exhaust crossover that causes excessive heat and is the major cause of many a blown head gasket. A valve train that is...

What vehicle and did you change the gearing for the 33's?

    1988 First gen resto-mod

For the shaking check the tie rod ends as I'm sure they're worn out unless the PO replaced them. Rotate and balance tires and check axles and driveshaft. My 85 had a shake from 40-55 that was caused by a worn out OEM tie rod end, even rotating the tires helped

    Good Deal?

Little more than I would pay but that"s me. If it's a Fl truck, check the fenders, rockers, and frame thoroughly for rust

    Fuel Pump Hanger

Not sure on these, but the baffles in my supra tank meant I had to feed it back in a certain way to get it in. It's very possible the baffles in these tanks present a similar situation since most have a "pocket" for the pump to sit in so the baffles can keep fuel to it. I just haven't had to...

    Wiring question 85 4runner

It's the plug for the rear window washer bag. The Wabbitt helped me out on that 1

    Wiring question 85 4runner

Inside the driver side rear panel near tail lights I have a plug that's not plugged in to anything and don't see the other end anywhere, so I have no idea what it goes to other than possible rear wiper as it doesn't work or rear window as it only works from front console control. It is a 2 wire...

Toyota T100 V8 swap to 93 4runner has it been done

I second that. And you can find ls400s for as cheap as 1500 running, maybe less if wrecked. I would swap an r150f trans though unless, you like automatics, and depending on what model you have

    should i buy?

Possibly worth it, but with all that rust it"s gonna need a lot of body work. If you decide to check it out make sure the frame isn't rusted through. I wouldn't touch it with a 10ft pole, but then again I picked up mine for $2200 with no rust and less miles with a lift and new tires. If it runs...

    IFS compared to straight axle?

IFS is very capable once you sink enough money into it. The reason most people go with a straight axle is cost per gain. A long travel suspension will run you close to $3k vs. spending maybe $1k to get the same level of performance out of a straight axle and the SA will be a bit more durable. To...

Coolant in Cylinder 1! What are my Options?

I would get it looked at to at least find out if a HG is all it needs and make sure if that's the case to get the head to a cylinder head service shop and they can check and plane it for $80-100. I wouldn't worry too much about the 248k mi, I have had them hit over 300 no problem, and my buddy's...

    Quick Question -

X2 on the auto trans. I have owned 3 22re vehicles and none were speed demons though my 91 2wd pickup drove fine and had plenty of power. My 3vze experience is limited, but the 5spds I've driven definitely had more power and torque than the 22re. The 3vze is a whoppin 150hp and it's pushing...

    Exhaust Leak Myth or Legend

The only problems that I have heard of is a leaking manifold/header could potentially burn a valve, but not sure the truth to it though did come from 2 master techs. I could see excessive engine bay temps being a problem and possible head gasket deterioration if it's in the right areas. If the...
