its a pretty high pitched whistle/whine only when in gear under moderate acceleration and gets higher pitched with heavier acceleration. For example when I leave my cul de sac if I get 50% into the pedal it will start to whine at the top of the gear. I'm going to start with the AC Compressor...

Sorry to revive such an old thread, but what if it's neither? Mine is more of a whine under acceleration. Basically the more my foot is in the pedal the more it whines. It's starting to become a "nails on a chalkboard thing" and I just apologize to my 4runner when I have to accelerate harder...

I purchased new steering rack guide parts: Spring: 90501-26074 Guide: 45504-35031 Nut: 90179-48003 For my 3rd gen to fix an clunking, but turns out the issue was just my sway bar bushings. They're genuine Toyota OEM parts still in sealed bags. PM me for inquiries or questions about the parts.

I'm having an issue with my 2002 sr5 automatic that is starting to worry me. When I'm very conservative with my acceleration and speed, everything is fine, but the minute I get about 30% into the gas pedal, I hear a slight squealing noise. Then about 60% into the gas pedal it suddenly switches...
