How many miles until your original alternator and/or starter failed?

2004 SR5 V6. Original Owner. 230K miles. Still running on original alternator and starter. I have thought about preemptive replacement given the very remote places I go.

    Copper AT3 cupping

I will definitely consider refreshing the suspension parts including Bilstein 5100s this Spring before purchasing new tires. Running winter Blizaks right now No obvious cupping on those yet after 2 seasons. Looks like I will be passing your way next month when we drive down to Gardiner and...

Tire Cupping - Replace Lower Control Arms & Tie Rods?

Thank you for your feedback. It is appreciated. The shocks have about 40K miles on them. Replaced in 2017 around the same time the tires were purchased. I should have included that info in my original post. Sorry.

Tire Cupping - Replace Lower Control Arms & Tie Rods?

I am an original owner of a 2004 SR5 V6 with 230K miles. Stock configuration and suspension. I have been running Cooper AT3's. Cupping pretty bad with about 40K miles on them. Been rotated regularly at 5K. Trucks handles normal and smooth on the road. Just noise from the cupped tires. I have...

    Copper AT3 cupping

Thank you for your feedback. The technician said the shocks and struts are ok. They were replaced about 30K miles ago. Stock OEM not, Billsteins. Only issues found were small play in front LCA and Tie Rods.

V6 owners, how are your water pump holding up?

As I said in my original post, I have diligently performed all scheduled maintenance as specified by Toyota. There is no scheduled interval for the water pump, although they are typically replaced on the V8 out of convenience when the timing belt is replaced around 100K. Mine is a V6 with a...

V6 owners, how are your water pump holding up?

Thank you for your feedback. Risk management and "what ifs" are integral to all my activities, which in addition to remote off-road adventures, include wilderness backpacking and white-water rafting. In the case of taking my 4Runner on long distance remote adventures, the "what if"...

V6 owners, how are your water pump holding up?

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, I have given thought to replacing the alternator and starter too. Just got to decide where to draw the line and what point it just becomes preemptive overspending for a false peace of mind. I mean why not the fuel pump too which means dropping the fuel tank to...
