This is correct, I have an aftermarket alarm in mine too. Instead of pulling mine out, I turned the sensitivity to the lowest possible setting and that got rid of all the problems. For future reference, locking the driver's door twice then unlocking it twice with the key resets Chamberlain alarms.

I'm at 169,000 on my 2001. I bought it in 2015, my rear driveshaft went around 163,000 and my alternator had to be replaced last month, but other than that no problems.
