    Valve cover gasket leaking

I know ots old, but google pulls this post up. I’d say do not retighten the bolts. They are impossible to get to, without doing all the prep work for the job. Objective evidence to support. Old gasket, flat, hard as a rock in hand. New on the cover.

Solved: FJ Cruiser Spring Lift for 3rd Gen 4Runners

Make sure it's OEM I tried this idea using Moog coils; they were horrible and sagged badly under any decent load over 100 pounds. Great unloaded though. That was lesson one in a 'long' line of attempts at rear coils. Never tried the OEMs, went to Highlander OEM 1 inch coils did not last...

Misfire Problem - Could use some help

Tim, I always would hear at the station, and from dad/grandpa, the reason Toyotas are "bullproof" is because when something fails, it will still run forever. Both had owned Toyotas since they were brought into the US. Both told me never mess with a Toyota transmission or engine until it...

    Rear lower shock bolt size?

If I was in your shoes: I'd grind off the threaded piece I need from the junkyard. I'd head over to my welder shop (they love me and my ability to break mufflers), remove the shock in their parking lot, grind off the piece I need replaced. Ask the shop to just weld the junkyard piece into...

    Rear lower shock bolt size?

If your "shock broke" you need a new shock. New shocks will come with top hardware. Old rear shocks can easily be removed by just cutting that top piece (I did it by bending it back and forth and it broke).

2001 4Runner Battery Hold Down Bolt Size

I always support ACE; their Metric section has kept me afloat in some seriously small towns. They'll have the flange nuts, bolts, and odd bits we tend to need to mimic OEM.

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I bought a second one I've been sending my 4runner really hard, it was my daily. I broke the radiator, sent her for a few defeat doughnuts, and never blew a head gasket... Close call got me rethinking how hard I send her; so I looked for auctions. I scored a Border Patrol seized 4runner...

Options for replacing a/c tensioner pulley?

Thanks for the diagram, confirmed I just need to wait for the penetrating oil to work. I am in the process of completing exactly what Nobb said; just trying to remove the part the bearing sits on.

YES! Timing Belt Tensioner Removal without removing AC Bracket

Just take the AC compressor out. I stripped my rear tensioner bolt head. Now I'm ****ed; can't even recompress the tensioner without a vice... Edit/Update: I recall getting the tensioner replaced. Eventually the pentrating oil and different socket, extention, cursing combinations worked. I...

    E Brake keeps getting stuck

After replacing my bell cranks, and adjusting everything; I was still having my parking brake stick. In this thread or another, it was mentioned the cable would not move (but looks completely fine). The joyful part of replacing the cable is that clamp in the middle... I grinded mine, pried...
