What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Had a very busy weekend.. Installed some 231 mm Tundra brakes, some used DR (ICON) coilovers that I reubilt, 7.5 and 8 wrap LC coils and 1998 LC rear shocks (with new lower shock bolts) Then drove up to my parents in Broken Arrow, OK (500 mile round trip) for Easter and to buy this...

Prep List For My Suspension Project

I spoke with Toytec when I lifted my last 4Runner (see sig for details) and they advised me to only install the drop bracket for the panhard. He said that with the adjustable one I'd likely have the driveshaft hitting the gas tank. I ended up not getting anything and left the panhard alone. I...

going for one 881/906 lift pretty soon

I had 906's for about 10,000 miles on my '99. They only lifted it about 1" and the ride was pretty harsh compared to stock. Nothing you can't live with, but I ended up swapping to land cruiser springs. On washboard roads with the 906's, the rear end would bounce and skip everywhere. I actually...

King Shocks / Coilovers: DIY Rebuild

A little late, but just in case anyone else is checking out this thread.. I found a local shop in the Dallas/Fort Worth area that rebuilds shocks. Said it would take half an hour per shock at $95/hr. I'm going to rebuild my own and just have them charge with nitrogen for $20.

    00 4runner Stalling at idle

Sounds like the starter gear isn't engaging the flywheel. I believe you can just rebuild the starter to save some money, but I would probably just replace it since you were planning on it anyway. It's not something you want to take out twice either. The first replacement I got was bad so I had...

    Cluster Differences

I had a '99 with the top cluster there. I now have a '96 with a completely different cluster (rolling odometer instead of digital among other things). I would assume the bottom one is off of a 2001 or 2002, but I'm sure someone else will chime in.

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Good to know. I thought they looked a little further in than the split spokes. I haven't had any rubbing with these yet so I'll wait to put them on until I do the Tundra brake upgrade. Then I can replace the stock studs with longer ones at the same time and not have to take it all apart twice.

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

You know, I didn't even think to check the UCAs. 265/70 and 265/65 are the same width so the spacing to the UCA should be the same. I do like the look of spacers, even had them on my last 4Runner, but took them off because of the increased rubbing and I was worried about bearing life.

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Put on some 265-70R17 Terra Graplers with 4th gen sport wheels. Changed the fuel filter, drained and filled the trans to fix the slow shifting and got an alignment done.

best rear coils for towing ?

I don't have a ton of experience towing with 906's, but I did tow a 5'X10' enclosed trailer from Dallas to Stillwater, OK and back (about 260 miles each way) with no issues. I had the trailer and interior packed to the brim, actually had to put a couple boxes on my roof rack. I don't know how...
