Rear Axle Seal replacement? - 3rd Gen

I agree. That's what I said in my initial post. I was just wondering if there wasn't a severe leak where the bearings were impacted, then this may be a viable alternative. I'll inspect when I take the axle out and report back what I end up doing.

Rear Axle Seal replacement? - 3rd Gen

Thank you for the repsonse. You're talking about the utilizing a press and installing the collar backwards, which is the absolute correct way of doing it. I was refering to not doing this, leaving everything on the axle as-is, but putting something inside (inboard) of where the rear axle seal...

Rear Axle Seal replacement? - 3rd Gen

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I searched and didn't really see an answer for what I was thinking. For the seal, because we all know it rides too far inboard, could we install some sort of spacer (washer maybe) behind the axle seal in order to push it out a few mm? Between doing this and...

To the engineer that decided the heater core location

As an engineer that works in design applications (structural) for the DoD, I can tell you that we KNOW what the best locations are BUT due to budget, politics, etc we are sometimes forced to go against that knowledge and do things the stupid way. I wouldn't blame the engineers, but the...

    Engine Re-Fresh

That works too, and imo would be easier. Just have to make sure you're getting a good engine - and that is where it becomes difficult.

    Grinding sound when ac on

I always thought that the clutch was a separate item that could be removed from the compressor and replaced? I found this thread discussing that: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/129607-ac-compressor-clutch-replacement-do-not-do.html

    Odometer Fraud 2.0

McFinnigan, I got some respect for you. You gave the guy a chance to correct his wrongs. The email he sent you back was all kinds of messed up. I hope you fry his A$$. He politely gave you the finger with what he said when he KNOWS he is wrong. WTF is wrong with some people?

    Toyota Sequoia, who has one?

Not really too many complaints for the newer Sequoia's other than price and gas mileage. There were frame rust issues and broken tailgate latches on the 1st gen models. Mine is the 4.7L V8. The newer 5.7 V8's are sized better for the vehicle overall . At times, I feel the 4.7L V8 is lagging...
