Not all scanners are the same or have the same range. For some reason my $20 bluetooth can read MINI codes where my autozone one can't. My XCAL pulled a whole horde of codes on my lincoln where my bluetooth one showed me as good to go.

Tbh its kinda random. Mines been in Illinois 17 years and I would bed it could go another 5 easy. You have to expect there to be some rust, paint flaking. What to look for is if it crumbles or gives easy. Wouldn't be a bad idea to sand what you see, spray some reformer and other paint over it...

I've got a similar issue, I was leaning towards it being upper control arm related since it's not every bump and sometimes on turns. Could be shocks as well I guess, not sure when or if they were ever replaced on mine
