so there were two different kinds of calipers made for different sized wheels?

I have a 2001 Tacoma Regular Cab 2.7liter with 16inch alloy wheels. I also have a 1999 3.4 liter 4runner with 15 inch alloys. My question is can I swap wheels and tires? I'm using the 4runner more than the tacoma now. Both are stock wheels, its just the tires on the tacoma are more aggressive...
