Mine acted similarly. Assumed it was the AFM, and it turned out that the wiring harness connection to the ignitor had gotten moisture in it. A day to dry, and two zip ties to strap the harness down tighter, and all seemed fine.

You can search for recalls by the VIN on Toyota's website. I'd figure there's zero chance chanceof getting it done if itwas never performed.

Mine was done under the recall, but HG #2 was failing.
