Idles for 10 sec, then rough idle and stall 1995 HELP!

Mine acted similarly. Assumed it was the AFM, and it turned out that the wiring harness connection to the ignitor had gotten moisture in it. A day to dry, and two zip ties to strap the harness down tighter, and all seemed fine.

New guy here buying a 93 runner needing some help

You can search for recalls by the VIN on Toyota's website. I'd figure there's zero chance chanceof getting it done if itwas never performed.

New guy here buying a 93 runner needing some help

Mine was done under the recall, but HG #2 was failing.

Are you familiar with the 3.0 head gasket issues? If not, research it! Lesson learned on my part..........I would highly advise a compression test (in addition to careful inspection of the oil and coolant (oil in coolant was my first sign of an issue). If you aren't 100% certain of the health...

    Boiling/Bubbling Sound

I just recently dumped mine because I was getting some oil in the coolant and some exhaust bubbling in the radiator while it was running. Either of those?

Why did you go for the 2nd Gen?

I'll chime in a bit more! As I noted in my thread about selling my 2nd gen, I wasn't opposed at all to replacing it with a 3rd gen. The issue I had was the $$ for a clean 3rd gen. My RDX was about the same as a 3rd gen. Now, I know they are two totally different beast; I'm not trying to...

Why did you go for the 2nd Gen?

Didn't some years of the Subbie engine also have HG issues? Don't get me wrong, I really liked my runner.......but, if acceleration, highway comfort, and safety are priorities, then a 2nd gen Runner is not your best bet. Mine really struggled to run highway speeds (75 in my area). It was most...

It was fun, but my 4Runner days are over...

Someone did and, while it wasn't my fault, I feel for the person. I traded it in on Black Friday, and it was listed at least by Monday (may have been sooner, that's just when I happened to look). Aside from the lack of time to do the HG, most new dealers don't have the knowledge or resources...

Why did you go for the 2nd Gen?

I just made a thread about recently trading my 2nd gen. In it, I commented about why I ditched it and why I'd lean towards a 3rd if I had it to do over. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/classic-t4rs/184187-fun-but-my-4runner-days-over.html In hindsight, I should have heeded the 3.0 warnings...

It was fun, but my 4Runner days are over...

No worries about ricing it! I've got a Honda s2000, and to date, the only mods are an intake and exhaust (nice and low, no fart cans). They sold it within just a few days, and they aren't local to me (I ran a big risk, and drove it a few hundred miles). All they had to do was remove the...

It was fun, but my 4Runner days are over...

In hindsight, the 2nd gens seem like a intermediate (mis)step between the rugged utilitarian nature of the 1st gens and the daily-driver practicality of the 3rd gens. My takeaway is that a 1st gen is great for a build and a 3rd gen is great for daily use; my 2nd gen wasn't great for either...

It was fun, but my 4Runner days are over...

Maybe some day. If so, it would be a first gen (and a 22re!).......but the last thing I need is another car (also have a sports car and a classic truck). Hyde, don't be like that; I loved my Runner, it just didn't love me! Seriously, it's the only car I've ditched and really missed. It looked...

It was fun, but my 4Runner days are over...

The curse of the 3vze strikes again..... After 1.5 years of daily driving with no issues, I started to get some sludge in my radiator, and some bubbling while running (exhaust gas I assume). Rather than mess with it, I decided it was time to let it go. I'd been researching my next car...

    2nd gen performance chip???

Most (if not all) performance chips are nothing more than snake oil. Newer cars can sometimes be tuned via ECU software (i.e. Hondata). In our case, ensuring you have good plugs, wires, distributor, air filter, fuel filter, and timing are as much tuning as you're going to get.
