6th Gen to look like Toyota FT-AC concept ?

Can we please just have an updated variant of the reliable 1UR-FE V8 in the eventual 6th gen? We promise to never look at those Nissans or Raptors again, it was just a one-time thing, honest

    Anyone taken the PMP exam?

definitely O/T, but (along with looking for a 5th gen for my soon-to-be growing family) I am getting ready for the PMP exam and plan on taking it soon, have any T4R'ers taken it? It's definitely in the PITA category, been studying for a few months. I figure when I pass (hopefully August/Sept...

    Transfer case leak

This is kind of a bummer, I'd hoped this issue died with the early 4th gens. I sold my 4th a while back and have been seriously looking at 5th gen limiteds, looking through this thread I see it appears to affect all years up to 2016... I'm not saying this would stop me from buying, but perhaps...

And You Think Prices Are High in Your Area?

Well to be fair, the prices of just about everything in Seattle are outrageously high for no reason, cars certainly cost a lot more up there than down here. There must be a bucket of consumers with a lot of money (somehow) and the combined IQ of a pigeon.

Anyone come from Land Rover? Or G-wagon?

Land Rovers are complete junk, end or story. And as much as I love my 4runners, it can't be compared to a G-Class as already pointed out. The G-Class is far superior to the 4runner in every way, but it is also WAYYY more expensive. They are way more rugged and durable as well, and if you...

    Sooooo...wonder what's wrong with it?

That was a Seattle craigslist special... 2013 Mercedes E550 4-Matic for like 95% of clean title price in the ad you'd see: "only has a rebuilt title due to small (yeah right) damage to driver's door, you drive the car not the title" or "had a tiny amount of water in one foot well during last...

Hot weather, anyone else notice this

That's my biggest complaint about my 2-door V8 Mercedes; it's awful in deep snow, can't handle deep mud or rocky trails in SoCal, and can't trail run to save its life.

    Differential hum..

I'm on my 3rd rear diff, in 95k miles, seems like these things have wimpy rear diffs for whatever reason as I found MANY threads about cooked 3rd members when I was searching around last year. At least, more 4th gens appear to suffer from this than other gens, IIRC they beefed up the diffs a...

Mission Impossible - Air Mix Servo

Hmm it wasn't too bad in my 3rd gen Limited to replace the mix servo, it was stuck shut (or open?) so only cold air was getting in, that sucked when in the mountains skiing and ambient temps were only 5*F!!! In any case, there was a blind screw as you mentioned on the 3rd gen as well, it was...

    Rats!! Blown Head Gasket.

Western WA seems to have a rat problem in recent years. If you're at one of those "grungy Seattle" (see: dump that hipsters like) restaurants in the city don't be surprised if you see a rat inside every once in a while. I know NYC is known for this, but it's definitely one of Seattle's...

    2016 4Runner Limited

Quality and reliability potential aside, think about it this way: I see 10+ year old 4runners on craigslist with 100k+ miles on them for $16-18k all the time, and they don't seem to last before someone grabs them. A 10+ year old Exploder (family had one, was a giant POS and lived up to the...

    Oil filter interval

It would probably handle it, Honda even recommends changing their oil cheap factory Honeywell filters every other OCI, so every 15k! A lot of the new Yotas with the new canister filter are now recommending 10k intervals for average drives. With that said, I'd change it out, but then again, it...

    Tricky Transmission situation...

Well if she's gonna croak, she's gonna croak; but IMO you're still probably better off doing a cooler line flush and replacing all the fluid with factory WS than you would be not doing it. Worst-case it kicks off anyway, best-case it'll live a lot longer. :/ Best of luck, hopefully it'll work out.

    Tricky Transmission situation...

These A/T's are pretty tough, with a thorough flush (maybe 16-18 qts in your case) I imagine it'll survive just fine. TBH I probably wouldn't bother with the "filter" (more like screen) unless you really suspect something has plugged it up. I've seen automatics survive worse, some bright...

Camping in Joshua Tree with ARB Awning

Never camped there before (not really a camper at all), but I love Joshua Tree. It has to be among my favorite places I've ever been, love the scenery out there and how tranquil even the main road can be on what should be a very busy tourist day. Great pics!
