    *** V6 Head Gasket Action Request ***

Tried and didn't work. Based on the gasket leak mode seen I don't think a particle clog sealant would be very effective

    Do u know of a Yakima Q-clip that fits 4runner 4th gen??

I want to put a roof cross bar well forward of the factory rails. I wish to use Yakima Q towers. I could go either with a Landing Pad 7 adapters that requires drilling into the roof or use Q-clips. Unfortunately, Yakima does not support any Q clips for 4th gen. The q62 is listed to fit 3rd...

Write-up: How to Disable (Bypass) the TPMS

Measured the current between the wires.. Current was 7 mA - good to go here; and this worked for me. These are small wires so be sure your Scotchlok is able to slice through to the copper core. Mine didn't at first try but I went to plan B. Thanks

What's your trick to loosening rear diff fill plug?

Yes, the 15/16" socket is about 0.007" smaller than a 24mm. Good call on that one. Tight fasteners can be a time killer. I assume you used a 1/2" drive, 18"-20" breaker bar for this. It's my favorite tool.

Toyota 4runner Sealed Transmission DIY Flush

Couple of suggestions I have done the sealed trans "flush" three times now - at 50K, 100k, and 150K. The first was done with Toyota WS fluid, the next two were with Dexron VI from Walmart (about $4/quart x 12). The linked instructions in this thread are very good. I do things a little...

4th generation coolant drain and fill

If I recall the coolant capacity is about 2 gallons. Here's what I do on my V-6: Warm up and then drain the radiator. You should get slightly under one gallon out - Do measure and confirm. Replace this amount with water. Warm up and do this multiple times so that you finally have pretty...

    replace rear disc

don't have a write up but want to add the following based on my experience. There are 8mm threaded holes in the hub to assist rotor break away using a couple of bolts. Inside the hub of the rear rotors are your drum type parking brake shoes. These might be hanging up to the internal drum...

Switching from conventional oil to syn at 36k? bad idea?

Switch 'em or mix 'em anytime. I've been using 50/50 blend with an estimated 42 oil changes on my 05.

What is this filter called? Air cleaner assy.

This is a filter containing activated carbon to adsorbed unburned hydrocarbon vapors that might seep up from the intake mainfold while the engine is off. It is riveted in place. Forcibly removing won't hurt anything except that you might increase yr. evaporative HC emissions if you care.

Tip for bleeding brakes (4th & 5th gen)

just be sure that you don't let the fluid level drop too low in the reservoir while bleeding. If you get air into the master cylinder, you'll have to re-bleed. It's too bad that DOT3 fluid can't be in different colors to see when you're pushing new fluid completely through. Well it's pretty...
