How I palm sand. Flat surface to flat surface. 40 and 60 grit is really all you need. Also I bought these weld in tip tie tabs from TMR customs to keep my wiring clean.

How to do the tubing. You have a couple options... If you are doing just the center tube you can set it pretty vertical... center it, place it forward on the bumper as much as possible. Then tack just the front. Now open your hood... it will likely touch... bend the tube forward for clearance...
