Need a tailgate for my first gen being as one didn't come with the truck.

Hay guys just got my first Toyota its an 88 4runner with a six inch kit .My question is it has 15 in wheels on it now can i use the 17 inch wheels off the newer Toyota on this truck? The reason i ask is i have a set of 315x75x17 sitting around and the yota needs new treads. Thanks in advance.
