What (if anything) do you miss from the 4th Gen model?

fulltime 4WD does not equal alltime 4WD, my 4th gen SR5 ran in 2WD most of the time, but if I forgot to take it out of 4WD on dry pavement, no big deal

What (if anything) do you miss from the 4th Gen model?

lack of multi mode and crawl control, 20" wheels, and styling on the limited made it a non-starter. why can't we have torsen and full time 4wd with the other off-road goodies? but I did agonize over the decision, finally went with what I thought was the more off-road capable model

What (if anything) do you miss from the 4th Gen model?

I had 2004 SR5 4WD and now have a 2010 TE. Everything that you mentioned plus climate control torsen center diff full time 4WD mirrors on c pillar map pockets on front doors were actually usable double decker storage compartment in rear passenger side electric latch on rear cargo door alloy...

How does 5th Gen match up?

more room / visibility, some good hi-tech stuff, but lots of decontenting to save a few bucks - overall, I'm slightly positive on the cost / benefit ratio

    popping/creaking noise on seats?

I took mine to the dealer and they "adjusted" it. Noise seemed to go away for about a week or so. Next, I tried a variation on westwind77's fix. I inflated lumbar fully when I ran out the store last night and left that way overnight. When I got in this morning, I reduced the lumbar to a...

    "Double Decker" for My TE

OK, here are the pictorial construction details. The frame ... with decking ... In place with 2nd row seats up ... and down ... I sized to maximize deck area, so 2nd row seats cannot recline much. Approximately 71/2" of vertical clearance for slide out tray items, which allows my...

    "Double Decker" for My TE

I just finished building a rear shelf to replace the double decker cargo shelf no longer offered on the 5th Gen 4Runner. I really liked the versatility when on vacations with my 4th Gen. I built a frame using 2 x 2s and brackets made for hurricane strapping of home framing. Sized it to fit...

    Interesting Day With My TE

Harper7, I hear you and respect your opinion, but the Brake Check guy installed a brand new Toyota supplied stud completely by hand and it snapped off with a torque wrench set at 83 ft-lbs (I watched him do it). This is what really got my attention: no impact gun, no possible history of...

    Interesting Day With My TE

I intend to take the broken lugs to dealer parts manager tomorrow and let him know what my experience has been. The dealer rotated the tires that morning, I wonder if they replaced any lugs and didn't mention it. Good question to ask the parts and service managers.

    Interesting Day With My TE

OK, the plan was simple, have the dealer do the 5K tire rotation then home to change the oil myself. Dealer finds a nail in one of the tires and says I need a new tire for $214. I say BS and go to Discount Tire to get it plugged. At Discount Tire everything was cool until two of the techs...
