If he can afford it, he should get what he wants.
There will always be things to fix on an older vehicle. It's a lot cheaper than buying new.
If he really likes it, he accepts a higher price or things that have to be fixed.

I just did this, like an hour ago. I may have got lucky and just wired them up without taking note as to which wire, (red or black), it was supposed to go to and it started right up. (mice had chewed mine down to the nub.).
I knocked the wires off the throttle position sensor and am searching...
