I use a q-tip to apply a small amount to the inner wall of the boot. Not to the contact surfaces between the conductors on the plug or coil.

I didn't need to remove any panels on mine to install the controller. I installed the RedArc controller. Took more time to install the control knob (I didn't use the button insert) in the trim of the dash trim around the radio than the controller itself. Highly recommend the Red Arc controller...

Get the Gates FleetRunner belts. I had an AC Delco belt and it squeaked horribly right out of the box. The Gates Fleetrunner hasn't made a squeak in 3K miles.
