    front shock replacement

Good threads on shock replacement and what I used: OME Install - no spring compressor - Toyota 120 Platforms Forum http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/39656-front-strut-replacement-bilstein.html Hope the above helps.

    A rant ...

I had less rust on my '97 Pathfinder with 178K miles than I do on my 2000 4Runner with 138K miles. Both were run under the same weather conditions and in the same area. Even where there was rust on the Pathfinder, bolts did not snap as easily as they do on the 4Runner. The quality of steel on...

    A rant ...

Agreed ... would pay extra for better quality hardware, possibly stainless. Would also pay extra to have had hardware with anti-seize, which I use liberally.

    A rant ...

Understand it's wet here and they salt the roads. Regardless, I've never had this type of problems with nuts/bolts on any of my other vehicles and I've had all types ... especially after I've given them a good spraying.

    A rant ...

I love my truck, I really do. However, the quality of nuts/bolts used in these trucks is crap. Even after I soak parts in kano kroil oil they still seize and break. They must be using steel imported from China. So much for Toyota quality! :rockthrow:

    Rotors keep warping

If you don't want to go the Tundra upgrade route, Brembo rotors (Tirerack has them for a good price) will solve this. Also, the NAPA premiums seem to be a pretty popular replacement over the OEMs.

Engine was running horrible, but not any more... hopefully.

After reading this thread and following up with info I've found via Google, I had a Motorvac service done on my 2000 SR5 today. Truck has 138K on it and, although the vehicle was very clean and seemed to run well, the last owner did not take the best care of it. Had it done at D&D Service in...

    Replacing FI's on a 3.4 V6

Before replacing the injectors have you tried running SeaFoam through your engine? How about a MotorVac carbon cleaning (http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/63042-engine-running-horrible-but-not-any-more-hopefully.html)?

    Silverstars

Some good information regarding replacement lamps can be found here: Daniel Stern Lighting Consultancy and Supply I recently installed the Philips Xtreme 9003 lamps (H4 - HB2 - 9003 bulbs) and am very happy with them. Next on the agenda will be a heavy duty wiring harness (see Toyota 4Runner...

How do you guys use ECT & O/D OFF ?

I leave ECT on all the time ... with the higher RPM shifts, I actually seem to get better mileage than when it's off. I do a combination of around town and highway driving.

    Rough running

Have you pulled the plugs and, if so, compare them all to get a sense of what is going on in each cylinder. You can also do a compression check of your cylinders.
