Thanks for the response. I actually found a solution in one of the other threads on here. If you put on the parking brake and leave the car in neutral when turning it off, it will apparently keep playing the radio indefinitely. worked for me!

i've got a 2015 4runner with a push start system. how do i play the radio while the car isn't running? i can get it to play for awhile, but it cuts off and has to be restarted. taking the kids to a drive in movie this weekend that relies on the car's speakers, and i need to not be getting up to...
