Performance issues FINALLY fixed! (An embarrassing tale)

I will say as another update that the pinging has slowly lessened. I presume the computer is still learning as I went from 16.5ish mpg (lowest before the fix), up to 17.5 mpg, and now up to 18.5 mpg. I'm curious to see how much things improve. Prior to this nightmare I had the truck hitting...

Performance issues FINALLY fixed! (An embarrassing tale)

That really drives me nuts. I've been saying for years now that we need to bend road salting. Literally ruins everyone's vehicles and I don't even think it honestly helps that much.

Performance issues FINALLY fixed! (An embarrassing tale)

So I have an update; to my shock some of the pinging has returned but it's very rare and tame... I'm wondering if this is just the normal pinging that the manual mentions?

Really? I'm searching that right now

Performance issues FINALLY fixed! (An embarrassing tale)

Interesting. I will say that visually the mangaflow direct fit cat looks like it is made well. Good bends and welds, but I'm not an expert.... Haha I wish someone made a stainless tail pipe for our rigs. Mine looks like trash.

Performance issues FINALLY fixed! (An embarrassing tale)

Does walker make a SS oem fit or does it require cutting/welding? I've been told the magnaflow probably won't last for a long time so I'll have to keep a backup in mind... Is yours restrictive or leaking?

Performance issues FINALLY fixed! (An embarrassing tale)

So, after nearly 2 years of dealing with performance and fuel economy issues I am happy to report that my girl is finally recovering. Right off the bat I'll say that I'm embarrassed that I missed such an obvious issue for so long. Moral of the story...don't be lazy and don't be in a rush...

Pulled a used (newer) drive shaft, what should I know?

If it is in good condition I'd take it to a good driveline shop to have them rebuild and balance it. If I am not mistaken, the ball/inner joint of the double cardan cannot be replaced normally so it would need to be rebuilt. I could wrong, it's been a while...haha

1-2 Minutes truck loses some power 3rd Gen :hunter:

Sounds like what I've had for a long time. I JUST found out that I have an exhaust leak. I mistakenly took the noise and smell as a product of "not having an oem" cat. A good mechanic I started using about 6 months ago for things I don't have the time/tools/space for, did a couple of smoke...

Can our reflector housings handle 100 watts?

Yep those look like them. Truthfully I think some 70-80 watt bulbs for the low beams would have been fine but those are impossible to get from what I can tell... As for hella, I agree that it's odd... The Tacoma world thread on the "ultimate headlight upgrade" has a chart comparing many...

Can our reflector housings handle 100 watts?

So has an update, I received the OSRAM 100/90 bulbs. I was able to get them on a sale from last week so I got them at $8 a bulb. But for so I would have to spares. Surprisingly these are still made in Germany which is pretty awesome! I'm still waiting on the harness though, so no testing...

Can our reflector housings handle 100 watts?

Hey thanks man. I had actually order the US made harness from that guy in Colorado. Looks like the hella bulbs are what I'll try first though in terms of bulbs!

Can our reflector housings handle 100 watts?

Yeah that definitely makes sense that it would drain the battery. Okay cool, this basically sounds like exactly what I want and I was thinking the same thing in terms of cost. I was talking to one company about glass housings with projectors built in them, like a custom retrofit, that was like...

Can our reflector housings handle 100 watts?

Oh that's interesting; okay that would fall into the "special" circumstance that I mentioned. Haha

Can our reflector housings handle 100 watts?

That's good to know. How is the output?
