Might not be cheaper if you get into a fender bender and the bull bar transfers the energy into the frame of the truck, instead of letting the bumper take the damage (as it is designed to do).

I think there are dots marked on the tracks for the optimal low vibration position of the cross bars (I could be wrong, though). You might first try positioning your racks on those, see if that makes a difference.
