I have installed the phone control buttons on a 2004 limited. It worked just fine with an aftermarket headunit. I believe the missing wiring you are referencing is for the oem mic.

Follow the wires from the key override and you should find the remote start or alarm brain, then you will be able to research that module.

Disconnect and cap the speaker wire that is being used for power. Splice those power wires back to the plug. If you're bored, disassemble until you find where those speaker wires go.

I wonder if this could be done at B5 to avoid the locks being activated. Use the blue 12V to power B5 using a diode to avoid back-powering the entire accessory circuit and the relay that will basically push the front cabin rear window control.

Without knowing what all the PO has done to it, hard to say. But it is easy to run new speaker wire and amps if it is too fubar to be corrected.

Any good places if you just want to replace the driver bottom and have it look as OEM as possible without spending a small fortune?
