What did you do with your 4runner today?

Timing Belt Job Spent the weekend replacing the timing belt on the new-to-me 04 V8 w/ 122k. Previous owner never bothered to change it at 90k. Had a few hiccups that made the job take far longer than anticipated, but happy to have it done. I used the Aisin kit from Amazon, no complaints at...

Wait for a 2027 Solid State EV 4Runner??!

I hope so. A plug-in hybrid is pretty much the only type of EV I'd currently consider in a camping / adventure vehicle.

    Camping trailer or Tundra?

These are the only two factors that would weigh on my mind if my 4runner was still reliable. I'd rather hook up a trailer occasionally than drive a much longer vehicle around on a daily basis, but YMMV. Additionally, I find hauling larger items to be much easier with a trailer given the lower...

Best speculation of a 2023 6th generation I have seen

I agree with this sentiment, but remain grateful that hordes of people without a real need have bought 4Runners. Makes the used market and parts availability much better.

Best speculation of a 2023 6th generation I have seen

Exactly how I ended up shopping for 4Runners. I had an extended cab 2nd gen Colorado and just wanted 4 seats. Turns out the rear seats in all the current mid-sizers are just a hair too small to work as a comfortable 4-person camping vehicle.

    Recommendations for front control arms

That is extremely nice to know. I assume this would be true of aftermarket UCA's as well? I see more Tacoma aftermarket UCA's for sale on local FB or CL than 4Runner versions.

    Dobinsons IMS ?

I really enjoyed watching the "Tinkerer's Adventure" Toyota IFS videos on Youtube. Has kind of pushed me towards staying on the lower end of lift to preserve down travel.

Thanks for posting up the build. Always nice to see modest builds and all the small improvements people make.

The Adventures and Build of my 2007 4Runner!

I've heard quite a wide range of price quotes, but recently in Denver I've gotten quotes around $1200-$1500 inclusive of replacing the water pump and pulley tensioner. I'd definitely shop around a few shops in your area and really drill down on what all they replace. It's one of those jobs...

    2005 V8: Budget skinny 33"s for spare? (255-80-17?)

Nice! Post up your results when you get it. That's the tire / size I'm currently leaning towards when I eventually lift mine.

    2005 V8: Budget skinny 33"s for spare? (255-80-17?)

Well, I remember a post where someone did fit a Wildpeak in that size in the spare location, however, I'm unable to find it now. It may not have been on these boards though. If I recall they had mentioned airing it down, raising it into place, and then inflating it to get it to fit though.

    Falken Wildpeaks maybe?

What did you do with your 4runner today?

Ah, this is one of those small projects I really like to see. Sometimes these little things make all the difference in daily usability. Bookmarked your build for a future reference!

    Rust issue?

Looks fine. I recently purchased an 04' that looks similar with surface rust. I'm planning to clean it up with an angle grinder / die grinder and then spray it down with a Potassium Phosphate based rust converter to get any smaller cracks / crevices cleaned up. Lastly, I'll spray it with either...

Just did this today. Thanks for bringing this up.
