    This sound sounds expensive...

I had a similar sound the other day and couldn't figure out what was wrong but finally my brain kicked in and it turns out to be I left my e brake on. Yeah, stupid and silly me - I blame Toyota and I totally hate the e brake location and would prefer a lever style hand brake. While driving it...

is the Lexus GX470 as reliable as the 4th Gen 4Runner?

Nice FJ I really like the FJ's a lot but it's limited with room. I wish Toyota would release a 4 door version but with the old retro look. I still wish Toyota would have released the FJ Cruiser more similar to the FJ40 retro style as well. I love these IMG_8735.jpg Photo by CLK_305 |...

is the Lexus GX470 as reliable as the 4th Gen 4Runner?

Exactly which is what I've always thought. I've always assumed the same with the Land Cruiser and LX450, LX470 and LX460, which is pretty apparent. Lol

is the Lexus GX470 as reliable as the 4th Gen 4Runner?

Wow you traded in your FJ for one? That's amazing to hear. The FJ was a vehicle I've always considered but have never fully jumped on. Knowing you traded your FJ for a GX470 gives me more confidence and drive to jump on one because the FJ has always been on the back of my mind and the...

is the Lexus GX470 as reliable as the 4th Gen 4Runner?

Thanks for the reply guys. Looking at possibly trading in for one. It reminds a lot of the Prado in looks and if I pick up one I just might re badge it to look like one, lol. Honestly it looks like a Toyota Prado re badged as a Lexus. I would for sure in time covert it from air bag suspension...

is the Lexus GX470 as reliable as the 4th Gen 4Runner?

Just as the title says, what do you think? I know the GX470 has a few more features but what do you think? Reliability is what it's all about Thanks

    Replacing tensioner pulley

I'm finally a 110% fixed. Turns out the pulley above the tensioner pulley on top next to the alternator was bad. I started my vehicle and watched the pulleys for about 30 minutes and noticed that very pulley wobbling. I drove to the parts store and picked that pulley up and installed it and now...

    Replacing tensioner pulley

Finally got everything running only by cleaning the throttle body and mass air flow sensor. Strange knowing this is nothing I was working with but now everything is running much much smoothly. I do have a small rattling or turning kind of sound and I'm thinking it might be one of the other two...

    Replacing tensioner pulley

So got everything back together and my vehicle stays started but idle sounds not quite right. I can now turn the ac on/off with no issues but the idle sounds a little funny or off. I checked over the belt a couple times and everything looks good. What should my idle be in park? My idle in park...

    Replacing tensioner pulley

The bolts on the alternator top and bottom are both the same size and length. I had to use a breaker bar to get both loose. Well actually I use the belt tensioner tool to loosen the bolts up. I removed my pulley from the new tensioner as well and used it on the old tensioner.

Going to check out an '03 with 12K miles

Wow that's still a baby, wow just wow. I would just check the vehicle all over up and down. Typically on an 03 you'd be looking at rust, seals and just other known issues but with only 12k and possibly garage kept I don't think much would wrong. But with the vehicle not getting much use...

    Replacing tensioner pulley

I pulled the tensioner all the way to get the belt on and the spring seemed really strong to me. I followed the diagram on placing the belt back on, can the belt "not" sit on the pulleys right.I would imagine the belt grooves have to line up with the lines on the pulleys? I mean I can't imagine...

Hankook DYNOPRO ATM vs GY ARMORTRAC (more tires... I know)

I have the Hankook Dynapro ATM tires and find no problems whatsoever with rain and slick roads. From the road to my front porch is a good high long little hill and I've many of times jumped the road curb when raining to pull closer to the front porch to unload my goods from the store, mind you...

    Replacing tensioner pulley

Yes the tensioner spring seems pretty strong in my opinion. When you say to check the belt threading, are you meaning to make sure the belt threads line up with the threads on the bigger pulleys, fan and what not? What's the best way to make sure? Last is it possible the belt got stretched...

    Replacing tensioner pulley

Unable to get the tensioner removed as we speak because I'm unable to remove the alternator which is seriously frustrating me. I removed the two bolts holding the alternator and some harnesses but still unable to free the alternator. The alternator will tilt to the side a little but will not...
