Since you're saying it's getting worse I'm guessing it didn't start right after the engine rebuild? You also say that it's happening with strain on the engine so if you are cruising down the highway it's fine? If so my guess would be fan clutch not engaging, at least not enough under slower...

Is it actually overheating or just the gauge rising? Were the head gaskets ever done by previous owner?

My version Just thought I'd throw in how I fixed mine. Used some 1/8" X 1 1/4 flat stock, formed it, welded the nut to the backside and added rivnuts to the mounting area.

The B&M kit comes with 11/32 hose which is a hair smaller than 3/8. I think trying to fit 5/16 hose on the cooler barbs and 4runner trans lines would be quite frustrating.

I got some those style screwdrivers from Sears a few years back. They had them on clearance for $2.50 Made by Vessel for Craftsman but they don't stock them anymore. Now they have these impact screwdriver set, also made by Vessel. Get them before Sears disappears...
