Getting rid of my M3 this weekend, need 4runner advice

There are a few 4th generation specific issues that are mentioned repeatedly in posts all over this forum 1. Check that 4 LO engages. 2. Check for any leaks or signs of leaks from the transfer case or 4 LO actuator A search on this forum will show that the above are both common issues and...

Did I get the Wrong Head Gasket?

Did you replace the bolts that fasten the head to the block? If the bolts on the engine are not OEM, they may be "torque to yield" type bolts that should not be re-used I'd try replacing the bolts before paying to have the head machined

Trailor for my upcoming Rausch Creek video...

There are too many Jeeps :repuke: in that video preview.:ak472::ak472: Banned for life should be your punishment! :thumb3: (just kidding). Nice music background. Who is it?

okay to pressure wash or hose off engine?

Search is your friend. This topic has been discussed many times on this and other 4runner boards. . . :boxer::bash:I must disagree with all posts above.:bash::boxer: Pressure washing an modern vehicle's engine bay is not a good idea. The electrical connections in the engine bay are "water...

Highest-performance vehicle driven for perspective on 4Runner

My souped up 1964 VW bug with 260 40R 15 inch BFGs handled only a little better than my 08' runner!:guitar3:

    Hitch bumper bar/step

Need to weld a few 2 inch spikes on the back of that "super bumper" for a little extra protection . . . The best defense against "errant parking accidents" is a good offense :gun5:

    Emergency brake light on (always)

Simply filling the brake fluid reservoir is not a good idea.:ak472: Many things could be wrong with your brake system that cause low fluid. Fix the cause and not the symptom of low fluid. . . It may simply be brake pads that may need to be changed. Check the pad on all 4 wheels, if they need...

Let's be serious- how often do you really NEED 4LO?

In the Midwest, using 4 LO with only a couple inches of snow is a great way to get a 1 finger salute :flipoff: Seriously though, I use it when offroad to control speed and once a month for a few miles of driving in the neighborhood . . just to make sure it works and the actuator seals get...

Burnt rubber smell around right rear

Crawl :spider: underneath and check the exhaust system and muffler to see if any there is any plastic road debris (e.g., trash bags, etc) melted and stuck to the exhaust. It has happened to me on a couple trucks that I have had. . . Litter bugs su**!

    Advice for Northward Bound T4R'er

Driving on the snow is easy in any 4 Runner. Follow 1 simple rule. Drive as fast as you are willing to slide off the road and into the ditch, concrete barrier, etc. 4wd will help you out of the ditch, but won't necessarily prevent you from sliding into the ditch when a :roadkill: dumb a$$...

    Spare Tire Won't Drop

What the the recommended product to use for the lube? Lithium grease? I would assuming that WD-40 or penetrating oil would not do the job. 2-3 times per year mainteance does sound a bit extreme . . . .

How Many Trips Through Carwash to Remove Dead Skunk Stench?

One trip through the automatic carwash with bottom blaster almost completely removed the stench. I will be pulling out the powerwasher later this week. On second thought. If I don't remove the skunk stench, does this roadkill episode count as my first 'mod'? :)

How Many Trips Through Carwash to Remove Dead Skunk Stench?

I should have clarified. Tonight, I will be making 1 trip through the automatic car wash with bottom blaster. If that does not remove the funky smell, the ramps and power washer may come out one night this week!:cursin: Serves me right for nailing that skunk. . . :bonk:

How Many Trips Through Carwash to Remove Dead Skunk Stench?

I "accidentally" hid a dead skunk while driving my 4runner this afternoon/ :bigok: (I wanted to make sure it was dead):gaptooth: How many trips do you think it will take through the carwash with bottom blaster to remove that funky dead skunk smell? My 4runner smells like :repuke:. I'll be...

UPDATE: Car & Driver now says NO V-8 for 2010 4Runner

This is just a symtom of too much US government regulation in the form of CAFE standards that Toyota must meet. So if you voted for the "Jacka$$" party currently in power, you shouldn't complain about the lack of a V-8 in your 2010 4Runner. You're getting EXACTLY what you voted for! :soapbox...
