Just about every picture on the web the knob is missing. Must be a common defect. Link below to an eBay listing also missing the knob.

Yes, and I’ve been courting some cassette radios in my area from FB Marketplace. But a 3D print can be done in less than an hour if I have the knob dimensions. Worth a shot if anyone has a set of calipers and the same knob to send me dimensions and maybe some pictures of the back side of the knob.
The 97 I’m restoring (my first 4Runner) is missing the volume knob on the stock cassette radio. The model on the front of the cassette radio says 51706.
Does anyone have this model still? Could you take a few measurements of the knob so I could have a friend 3D print a new knob?
When you removed the original shift handle for the 3rd gen vehicle, did you cut the OD wires and then solder the wires running to the connector plug back together with the replacement handles OD wires?
