My '99 w/195k miles was having random starting issues. Sometimes it would start fine, sometimes I would get a click and nothing. Sunday it had one of it's little no-start episodes with the wife in the truck. She was not amused and said "fix this damn thing!".
So, knowing the battery was OK I...
I was just going to search on this topic, but I wanted to do the reverse. I think the '99 bumper sticks out way too far and looks funky and since my garage is pretty short getting back a few inches of useless bumper would give me more room to walk around the truck when the garage is closed...
People suck, that's all there is to it.
Long time ago I came out to find my mustang with a big dent in the side. It had snowed the night before and the only tire tracks in the fresh powder were those that lead from our neighbor's drive way right into the side of my car, and then heading off...
Now that I've seen new ones, I can say those were due to be swapped out.
Had to drive in today in stop-and-go traffic and I must say that it's smooth all over the RPM band, even trying to roll on at 15 mph in 4th. It will pull (slowly) from there if it has to now without any bucking...
Well now mine does the same thing. :lmao:
Today I did the following:
- plugs
- wires
- MAF cleaning
- throttle body cleaning
Now you can do dumb stuff like drive around at 20 mph in 4th and just slowly accelerate up to whatever speed you want. Not that I'll do that, but clearly the motor is...
Fancy looking plug (this is the forward most drivers side plug, seemed to be the easiest to get to), but that center looks worn to me based on the pictures of plugs like this I see on-line. Pretty even though.
The cheapest replacement would be to buy a hacksaw and find a 4runner in a dark parking lot.... I kid, I kid. Damn thieves! :AK47:
I plan on welding some expanded metal around down there to protect mine, especially now that I've taken the running boards off and it's so easy to just slide...
None of the links seemed to be the same as my issue, and lots of searching turned up nothing exact either. Thanks for the pointers though, learned more about problems I might have in the future.
I'll pull the plugs and check them out and see about swapping out the fuel filter. It looks crazy...
I'm going through this same dilemma myself, got everything I wanted in my 4runner except the locker.
If the elocker is cheap, I'm tempted to go that route (anyone know of someone in the SF bay area that will do an elocker swap-in?).
If the elocker is close to the price of a single ARB setup...
$6017 OTD last month for my '99 w/172k on it. Dumped the mall-terrain tires for some General Grabbers for $650, got a cargo cover at the junk yard for $75. Pulled the side steps off it for free. :)
I was going to put a bunch of money into new fluids last weekend but the dealer actually...
I've put about 1500 miles now on my new-to-me '99 (173k total miles) and I'm trying to figure out if I've got a problem or it's just the way these things are geared with the v6, 5-speed and the 4.11s.
For example, if I'm driving along at 45mph in 4th and then slow to 25-ish for whatever reason...
I was trying to be funny.
I guess I could have also tried:
- how are you going to mount a winch on that?
- going to mount up some 35"s?
- what, no 4LO ?
- needs more lift
- what are the approach/departure angles on that model?
Yea, they'll let anyone post around here.
'07 Vstrom 650. This is actually my daily ride, one of the advantages to living in CA is I can commute on the bike every day (even in the rain isn't bad). If I had to commute in a cage I would go nuts.
Prior ride was a KLR650 with so many mods it was hard to tell what year it was. I LOVED...
