I think if you plan on doing any off roading then the 3" Bilstein coilover lift will be the best one, performance wise. Nothing against spacers, they have their purpose. I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to looking at upgrading suspension, and i'm either going to go with the 3" Bilstein...

I've always driven manual and i was iffy about getting a 4th gen since they only came automatic, but I caved and I actually love it. I still miss shifting and the feel that only a manual trans can give you, but a 4Runner is a 4Runner! lol
