I had a toyota service guy tell me to put transmission fluid in the oil to help clean sludge out? Dipstick isn't burnt or cooked looking and oil looks like new. From what I can see in valve cover cap there's not hardly any sludge?

Ok he was asking 3k before and I'd really like to get it because of the condition so I'll make him an offer. I guess an oil pump swap wouldn't help much due to the miles?

He got the oil pressure checked and it's 2.5 at idle and 35 at 3k. With that being said what would it be worth? 1998 limited automatic with 290k miles. It's in awesome condition other than the oil situation

Well I'd rather waste 13 bucks and know if that fixed it rather than not know and find out after I bought it

The oil level was correct.. I changed oil sending unit and it light didn't go out..

I'm going to look at a 1998 4 runner with 290k miles and the guy says the oil light comes on When idling sometimes when hot.. but says it's been doing it for along time so if I check it out and there's no rattles or anything would it be safe to figure it was sending unit? Anyway to check it...

I have a 98 limited with 260k miles. The motor was replaced with a 100k mile motor due to a rear main seal leaking. The mechanic replaced TB and water pump when he did the swap. The truck is an excellent condition for its age. Wife just doesn't like it. I can get pics but I'm out of town right...
