I know this thread is over a year old but thought I'd add to it just in case it happens to someone else.
I had the exact same thing happen to me. I have an '06 SE 4.7 V8 and was towing a 3300 lb. popup camper. We were having troubles with the camper cable not connecting with the brake...
I bought my 06 SE V8 used as well. By far the best vehicle I've ever owned. Just got the OME suspension lift installed and now it rides better than ever. IMO V8 is the way to go, especially if you're towing.
