I think the easiest and agree with previous poster is to use a new head unit with the iDatalink Maestro RR Interface Module for OBDII readouts within the head unit. Additional plus you also get android or apple interface with use of built int mobile gps apps instead of the factory DVD route.

I too had a 1997 Miata M and did the same thing, I have lived with my 4 runner as is I am 6'6". I might take a look at the lower cushion and try the Miata trick. will report back as to what I find. Not all seats have that extra bucket foam like the Miata had though.

The vehicle should be getting a read out of the sO2 Sensor regardless of the initialization period. If the fitting is not seated all the way, it might be why you are not getting a reading from the new sensor.

You are 100% correct but it was a test I was trying as recommended by someone else. I have removed the extensions from the upstream and ran truck for a few hundred miles, no CEL and it is running better than before. This confirms all the suspicions that the upstream needs to be mounted normally...
