Yes, put some channel locks on the lower portion of the spline to keep it from pushing into the engine bay. I did that with mine and was able to fully seat it after doing the mod. Good luck!

Looking at the CarFax... that rust is likely from it's time in NY to begin it's life... I do not think it'll fetch $15K. IMO right now at $10K is appropriate... nothing special other than sub 100K miles.

My contribution to this thread Here are a few pics of my install. Notice that I decided to skip the Rigid switch, and also the switch through CBI that was too large. Instead, I went with a Toyota OEM switch which is a perfect fit and matches the dash pretty well. I would highly recommend...

Thanks for the suggestions on switches that work without hacking things up. I might end up going with an OEM switch from Toyota...this looks like a solid choice. Toyota OEM Fog Light Switch

One other thing for folks who buy these... if you get the switch that CBI sells with them, it will NOT fit the standard punchouts in the 3rd gen 4Runner. It is too tall and a hair wide. Frustrating... so now I have to either dremel it bigger, or find a new switch.

Boot goes to the bottom. It won't cause any issues and IMO actually help deflect stones which would normally pit that part of the shock body. I've had the Billy 5125s from Toytec on for over a year and wheeled the hell out of them with zero issue.

Interesting... I was complaining about my stiff ride (OME 881/890) with OME shocks all around... and 60028 in the rear. I swapped my OME shocks for Bilstein 5125s out back and it made a world of difference. It is almost "too soft", but wolds better around town and on the trail. On the highway...

I am thinking that the 600lb coil might be the way to go... simply because it will handle weight and bumps a bit better. Even with no weight, there is NO way that it will be "stiff" like the OME 881s are. ;-)
